Summer’s big stars come out to play
The summer concert season is starting to heat up, with much-anticipated tour announcements rolling in from some of the planet’s biggest stars.
On the heels of news that her 11th album, “Hard Candy,” debuted at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard charts, Madonna alerted the world that she’ll kick off her “Sticky & Sweet” tour on Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales, and stop at Boston’s TD Banknorth Garden Oct. 15. Rock-soul survivor Tina Turner is coming out of retirement to launch a major US arena tour and, at the age of 68, show the whippersnappers how it’s done. The 15-date road show kicks off Oct. 1 in Kansas City and rolls into the Garden Nov. 16. Tickets are $57 and $150 and go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com and 617-931-2000. New Jersey’s finest, Bon Jovi, will ride their steel horses (that’s Jerseyspeak for tour buses) into town for a two-night stand at the Garden July 9-10, with the All-American Rejects in tow.
