Thanks to the revelation of blistering, harmony-rich tracks like “Call It in the Air” from Jimmy Eat World’s 1996 album “Static Prevails,” we narrowly avoided a college career devoted to Dave Mathews soft-rock mediocrity. Thank you so very much, sirs. Then again, it did send us shooting off into an unstoppable spiral of emo fandom.
