In the geography of jazz, the New York-Paris axis has long been a thoroughfare for artists and ideas. From what I could make out, Ween sounded great at the Orpheum on Wednesday. But listening wasn’t easy, as distractions were frequent: Dodging lurching bodies and trying to get the girl in the aisle to stop playing with my hair took time. Tonight, the lighthearted Thickness celebrates a CD-release party at O’Brien’s with A Hero Next Door, Public Uproar, and All Parallels. 9 p.m. $7. O’Brien’s, 3 Harvard Ave.,
