Boo! (with a brogue)
When we first saw the word “Samhain,” we thought it was Sam Hain, a guy from the neighborhood. We now know that it’s the Gaelic word for November and that there’s a Festival of Samhain that celebrates the end of the harvest season. You can learn more about this Celtic root of Halloween along with other Celtic mythology at today’s Aine Minogue Halloween Concert. The performer (left) will tell stories about otherworldly creatures, play the Irish
harp, and, of course, sing. Head to the Old South Meeting House for the noon to 1:15 show. Price: $5 (includes admission to the museum). Old South Meeting House, 310 Washington St., 617-482-6439. oldsouthmeeting house.org
