Have you ever wondered about how to get that ringing country sound from your guitar. In this guitar lesson you will learn some country licks based on a combination of fretted notes and open strings.
We will first take a look at a D-major scale in one octave:
0/4 2/4 4/4 0/3 2/3 0/2 3/2
How do you read this guitar tablature?
The first digit indicates which fret to play. The digit after the slash gives you the string to play.
2/3 means that you are to play the second fret on the third string.

Last night, I had a FANTASTIC vocal night. I was hosting karaoke at my regular Saturday night gig and I re-discovered a technique that I had stopped using for some time, called “articulating.” Let me tell you, I had more fun using it then I’ve ever had before, because I was singing much better, and getting complimented and gushed over ALL NIGHT. Songs that I would normally consider difficult became EASY, and any stage fright I would usually begin

Most performers have had stage fright at one time or another. Most of the time people can’t help but be a little nervous, and that’s fine! The trick is to control it.
Let me paint the picture: You’re about to perform. Maybe your band is playing a gig, you’re auditioning for a contest, you have a solo in your church choir today. You get on stage to do your part, and your rapidly beating heart is making it difficult to breathe. That fact alone

As a child, you probably have danced or sang to some sort of music. Even today, you have probably danced and sang to the latest music. That is because everybody loves music, although in some instances, the music doesn’t love the one who sang. You probably have heard your parents sing along with their favorite all time classic.

Guitar Synthesizers have been around for years. I remember seeing a picture of Pete Townsend of The Who back in the early/mid-seventies with an ARP.
Since then it has come a long way and still needs tweaking but it is usable.
The technology is there. Use it. If you do not, you are missing a lot.
Checkout Pat Metheny and others.
You can’t just plug your guitar’s output into a box and get great synth sounds. You need a 13-pin connection.

What can you do on the piano? Answer? A lot! In fact, there are so many ways to hit notes it can get crazy.
One technique that’s used by many New Age piano players is the right-hand crossover. Here the right hand reaches over the left to hit bass notes or chords. This adds a very rich and full sound to your playing.
Take Lesson #7: Caverns for example. Here we have an opportunity to practice this technique. The left hand plays a simple ostinato

NEW YORK — The chance to savor the cuisine of the home you’ve left behind is a signal moment of bittersweet pleasure for an expatriate. So it’s fitting that it’s at a small Haitian restaurant here, before a dish of lambi , or conch-meat stew, that Erol Josué — singer, dancer, actor, and Voodoo priest — settles in to discuss his new album, “Régléman,” in which he filters the traditional and sacramental music of his roots through the prism of his diasporic life in Paris and now New York.

The teetering state of musical education in this country is a well-known fact. And even if you’re a kid who’s lucky or privileged enough to get exposed to — and excited by — classical music, there’s still a lot of social pressure against taking seriously something that’s so uncool in the minds of your peers. I know an accordionist who jokes that it took years of therapy to recover from the taunting he endured as a student carrying an accordion on his back through the hallways of his high school. You can just imagine the scene.

Drummers are rarely bandleaders in jazz, mainly for the simple reason that they are too busy drumming; the best ones are in high demand and therefore overextended, or end up tightly identified with a particular leader’s group and channel their creative energy there. Historic exceptions apply, of course, such as Art Blakey , whose Jazz Messengers was for decades a proving ground for new talent. By and large, though, the drummer works the background.

The Cantata Singers’ 2007-08 season will be centered on Kurt Weill, the émigré composer whose music uniquely connected the European concert hall, Weimar cabaret, and Broadway theater.
The ensemble will aim to shed light on Weill’s complex web of influences by interweaving his music with that of composers such as Schoenberg, Dallapiccola, Orff, and Brahms. Among the premieres is the season opener on Sept. 23, the first local performance

Despite having produced many terrific talents, the Boston hip-hop scene has always been fragmented. MCs and DJs who develop in different parts of the city rarely interact. And with many clubs giving short shrift to the genre, there’s been no central gathering point for the community.
“Everyone has always done their own thing,” says Edo.G , who many consider the dean of local hip-hop. “Boston has always been about cliques when it comes to hip-hop.”

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club knows a thing or two about sticking it out amid strife and setbacks. And it also knows those things are relative. Every good band (and likely a few bad ones too) swallows its share of the hard times that can come on the heels of good fortune. The great ones come back swinging.
In the six years since B.R.M.C. issued its terrific eponymous debut, the group’s toured the world to rave reviews, been dropped by one record

For generations the unique sounds that emanate from the music box have filled rooms with warmth, and soothed babies to sleep. Long before there were radios, or compact discs, cassette tapes, or even records, the music box was the source of music for most people. Unlike pianos or other conventional musical instruments, the music box was automatic and required no skill to play. All one needed to do was wind it up and enjoy the sounds it produced.

For many, learning how to play guitar is a realization of a lifetime of “rock star” dreams. And while most of us will never go on to enjoy a career as a guitar player, we can still enjoy the playing – integrating the guitar into our life as a hobby or even for use in an amateur band. But before we get that far, we must first understand the fundamentals of guitar playing. For some, such learning comes from skilled and reputable teachers who can

That song you just heard isn’t leaving you alone? Try as you may, it keeps making you hum it? Don’t hold yourself back – in fact try adding a new facet to that musical feeling. How about adding some background music to support your voice? How good would it feel to dedicate that beautiful song to someone you love so much. How wonderful it would be, if you could make a private album of your favorite songs and gift it to your beloved. If you have

I believe that music and art is the language of God’s heart and when we abide in Him, He communicates with our heart through music and song, revealing Himself to us and giving us revelations of His love and identity. In turn, we communicate to His heart our adoration and awe of who He is and all that is in Him. This is my definition of prophetic worship. As words connect with our minds, music connects with our heart. Music is able to convey a message

When you receive a sales letter with typos or grammar mistakes in it, do you take it seriously? Probably not. As soon as I see a few eighth-grade English blunders in any marketing effort, I quickly decide the author’s product or service is not deserving of my time.
E-mail is so quick and easy to write and send, that we don’t give it the same attention as we would a printed letter. It’s VERY important to make sure any communication you send to

MANSFIELD — Gwen Stefani rolled onstage in a jail cell at the Tweeter Center last night singing “The Sweet Escape.” Of course she escaped, sweet as can be in sparkling prison hot pants, singing with Akon under a giant blinged-out “G” while the Harajuku Girls pranced in policewoman garb.
Rarely has a road show delivered so literally on its name as Stefani’s “The Sweet Escape” tour. “Rich Girl” was the soundtrack to an adorable robbery, featuring
