Learn Basic Beginner Chords To Start Your Music Career

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

The guitar is perhaps the most popular musical instrument today. This is for a number of reasons — you don’t need any other instruments to create music, it has a beautiful sound to it, it is cheap to buy and relatively easy to transport, and it is very rewarding to play.

Whilst some of you may want to dive straight in and jam some lead guitar riffs, you should first learn some beginner guitar chords. The reason for this is that this is a better

Software Synthesizer Native Instruments Dynamo V1.1 Part 2 - Using The Software

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

The instruments of the present NI Premium Library comprise not only of conventional analogue and FM synthesizers, but also hybrid instruments, new kinds of synthesizers, and rhythm machines.

The instruments are created by top sound-designers, and many are direct emulations of well known synthesizers. Without using the names of the originals they have put large clues in the names of the instruments and made them look like the real thing. For instance the “Many Mood” is a Mini Moog & the “SH-2k” is a superb Roland SH101 emulation.

The E-Mu Esi2111 Sampler - A Retro Review Of An Interesting Retro Sampler

The E-MU ESI2000 sampler

The ESI2000 sampler is E-MU’s cheapest sampler (?858), they have achieved this by cutting down on some features such as the built in Zip drive and DSP that featured in the now discontinued ESI4000. The ‘missing’ features become available by fitting the ‘Turbo Option’ (?259), more about that later.

The Operating System

The E-MU operating system takes a little getting used to. To create a sample you hit the ‘Sample

Music History - Part 2

Musical instruments are divided into three categories, percussion instruments, wind instruments, and stringed instruments. Simple forms of these are known to every tribe on the earth, and in their simplest form may be available the hand of early man. So almost any hard substance could be fashioned as an instrument of the drum kind. The wind instrument is merely the stem of a reed or the horn of some animal

Returning romance to the musical

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Adam Guettel was looking for love. Something complicated and intense. Real love, you could call it, the kind of feeling that hits hard but is hardly unfettered, the sort that fills the heart and troubles the mind. Guettel — a noted composer and lyricist, and the grandson of musical theater legend Richard Rodgers — wanted to tell a love story. His mother, Mary Rodgers, recommended a novella by Elizabeth Spencer, first published in the New Yorker, called “The Light in the Piazza.”

Black Eyed Peas Monkey Business R And B Music Cd Review

Monkey Business is the latest release from R and B Sensation Black Eyed Peas, and is another great one from this talented musician.

It’s a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I’m more than happy to announce that’s exactly what I must say about this one. There simply is NOT a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all, with each song standing tall on it’s own.

One euphoric evening for Keane and crowd

Monday, May 28th, 2007

It probably wasn’t a coincidence that Keane’s first vocal number Friday night at the Bank of America Pavilion was “Put It Behind You .”

Last year the British trio canceled its entire summer tour, including a gig at this venue, when lead singer Tom Chaplin decided to go into rehab.

Newly svelte and ecstatically sweaty on this uncharacteristically muggy night, Chaplin and his bandmates — keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley and drummer Richard Hughes

Guster and Tunstall power up 14th Earth Fest

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Recycling may be important but it doesn’t sell tickets or put people in the seats — not that anyone attending Saturday’s free WBOS 92.9 EarthFest concert at the DCR Hatch Shell needed either of those things. What was needed or, perhaps more precisely, hoped for by the 100,000 or so people who flocked to the lawn (crowd estimates by city and state police, volunteers, and other officials varied wildly) was a good day with great music, or vice versa.

For the Faint, old tricks are working just fine

Monday, May 28th, 2007

The last we heard from the Faint was in 2004, when the band had released an album whose title referred to childbirth while sounding like the soundtrack to a gritty industrial dance party. “Wet From Birth ” was the Omaha rock band’s fourth album, and it continued the quintet’s move into angular synth-rock indebted to everyone from Kraftwerk to New Order .

My, where does the time go? Apparently, nowhere.

Your Singing Voice And Eating

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Your singing performance can be either helped or hindered by the foods you eat beforehand. You shouldn’t sing on an empty stomach; however, don’t sing on a full stomach either! Here are some tips on how and what to eat before your singing event.

When to Eat Meals before the Performance

Try not to eat only moments before the event. This can cause harmful throat-clearing before or during your performance. Also, if your stomach is full while singing,

Band’s confections are habit-forming

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

For two long years, Lavender Diamond teased and taunted the indie-pop faithful with one particular song. ‘‘You Broke My Heart’’ was a deceptively simple pop ditty that staggered its complexities in layers. Sounding at once jubilant and angry, the song swelled with strident tambourine and plodding piano, punctuated by singer Becky Stark defiantly repeating the song title until she teetered on hysterics.

Common ground, with gongs

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Eight small round gongs lie horizontally in a rectangular box and shimmer to the touch of soft wooden sticks. The sound is intricate, playful, liquid, the tuning flexible and untethered to a specific scale. Now hand drums weave in, offering a loose countervailing beat. A laptop beams loops and samples from field recordings: traditional music groups, children at play, street noise, a call to prayer taped off a hazy transistor radio.

This is the

Lavender Diamond’s positive glow

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

NEW YORK — As Becky Stark , the ebullient lead singer of Lavender Diamond, performs “Open Your Heart,” she sings a chorus of “Oh oh oh oh oh oh.” With each “Oh,” she flashes her palm outward, alternating each hand, as if giving gentle, imaginary high-fives to the audience. She just might be. After all, Stark is on a mission to bring joy and peace to the world.

“Dancing should be the number one priority of the nation,” the 30-year-old singer

Complete Guide to Cornets

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Although this brass instrument has been widely replaced by the trumpet in orchestras, small ensembles, and solo performances, the cornet is still used as the main high voice in British and European brass bands. It produces a mellower sound than the trumpet, making it a distinctive and useful instrument in certain circumstances. A lot of times however, there are wind instruments that sound similar to the cornet; and are thus replaced by them. Below

Johnny Cash has influenced artists from every musical genre and generation. There are so many musicians that refer to Cash as their hero, a mentor and a muse who exposed varied musicians to lyrically rich songs, steeped deep in thought, life and honor. An average man singing from the heart, Cash was in this way above average. His talent was genuine, a rare breed that could be cool, yet humble, powerful, yet vulnerable, never losing his edge or

Bright Eyes delivers blur of musicality

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Confession: Up until 10:10 Thursday night I was resistant to the charms of Bright Eyes.

It wasn’t impossible to discern why most critics were searching for drool cups as they rhapsodized about 27-year-old lead singer Conor Oberst’s inventive flights of lyrical and melodic fancy. But his limited vocal range and the overreaching comparisons to legends by other critics made it hard to hop on the bandwagon.

But after experiencing the rich and varied
